Finally an impressive Glock! Okay, I’m not a “Glock Person” but I do recognized that Glock makes some excellent handguns. My wife and daughter each own Glocks but my choice for “plastic” pistols are Springfields—and I have several.
My daughter just turned 21 and was looking for a concealed-carry pistol. She has shot a S&W Shield she did not care for it and my XDs which see liked. While at the range we shot a rental Glock 43. First impressions were, the pistol felt really good in my hands and the recoil is not much more that her G17. Compared to my XDs, the Glock grip has a more rounded feel which I really like. We both shot 1 mag each, the groups were tight but a few inches low. I tried a second mag and again the shots were low. On the third mag I focused on trigger control and I was able dial those shots right in the bullseye. You definitely need to get use to this long heavy trigger which reminds me of my Ruger LCP DA trigger. The pistol is slim and smooth without anything to drag or catch making it an idea carry pistol. The slide is easy to rack like most Glocks I’ve handled. One mag has a finger grip extension and one does not. I prefer the finger grip extension over the standard one and it does seem to make a difference. I was surprised to see the kit include a mag loaded even though you don’t really need one.
The mag capacity is disappointing. Why only 6 and why not an extended mag My XDs 9 included a 7 and 9 round mag, the new ones ship with a 7 and 8 rounder. I would like to see Glock include a second finger grip extension plus an extended mag with each kit. The trigger is long and heavy measuring 5.5 – 6 Lbs. using my Timney trigger gauge but is acceptable for its intended purpose.
I ordered the USA model with night sights for my daughter’s 21st. My wife is considering a single stack 9mm as well and might be going with this same pistol. As for me, I’m not giving up my XDs ever but I do like this little Glock 43.
This is the 3rd gun I’ve ordered from Sportsman’s Outdoor Superstore, excellent vendor, never had any issues. Four star rating for the G43, it would have been five if the kit included an extended mag.
